Scholarship Application

The IDeaL Education Foundation awards scholarships to deserving Chicago-area male high school and undergraduate college students at its annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Luncheon. If you are interested in applying for one of our scholarships, please refer to the information listed below:

  • Eligibility Requirements: (1) African-American male high school senior or undergraduate at a four-year college/university; (2) Cumulative grade point average of 2.8 or greater (4.0 scale); (3) Involvement in church, community, and/or school-site activities; (4) If in high school, plans to enroll at a 4-year college/university.  Also, please be advised that Scholarship awards will be presented on January 19, 2019 at the foundation’s annual MLK Scholarship Luncheon. All Scholarship winners are expected to be in attendance.

  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Photograph (head shot) of yourself in professional business attire

Email Application Packet to
Place scholarship applicants name in the subject field and attach the following documents to the email:

  • Personal Statement
  • Two Letters of Recommendation
  • Electronic Transcripts
  • A PDF of your unofficial transcript is acceptable as long as we receive an official sealed transcript via U. S. Mail
    If an institution/school provides official electronic transcripts, a separate email with the official transcript from the institution will be acceptable
    Photograph (head shot) of yourself in professional business attire
