Scholarship Application

The IDeaL Education Foundation awards scholarships to deserving Chicago-area male high school and undergraduate college students at its annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Luncheon. If you are interested in applying for one of our scholarships, please refer to the information listed below:

  • Eligibility Requirements: (1) African-American male high school senior or undergraduate at a four-year college/university; (2) Cumulative grade point average of 2.8 or greater (4.0 scale); (3) Involvement in church, community, and/or school-site activities; (4) If in high school, plans to enroll at a 4-year college/university.  Also, please be advised that Scholarship awards will be presented on January 13, 2018 at the foundation’s annual MLK Scholarship Luncheon. All Scholarship winners are expected to be in attendance.
  • Application Instructions: Complete this application and the required essay. Secure two letters of recommendation from adult mentors (i.e., church leaders, counselors, teachers, et. al.). Secure an official transcript (unopened sealed envelope) from your high school, college or university. Include a passport size photograph. Mail the complete application packet, including recommendations, transcript, and photograph, to:

The complete application packet must be received on or before Friday, December 1, 2017.
